Times Union, Are you disabled and looking to train a service dog to gain independence? We are performing dog evaluations on Wed March 27th. Classes will start in early April for those dogs accepted into the program.Capital District Owner Trained Service Dogs, (find us online or on Facebook) is a free organization created to help adults /children, and veterans in the capital district locate, train and maintain a potential match for a service dog in training candidate. Once you get your dog or If you already have a dog, the group provides assistance including: Basic obedience training, free / loaned out service dog vests and equipment, monthly meetings (optional), networking with other service dog owners, meeting out in the community for experience/ public access training. Again all the services here are FREE to individuals and their families. The organization would also love to get additional volunteers who would like to help with online work - locating and posting potential dogs.
